Next to the Oceanarium in the Parque das Naçôes is the Pavilhão do Conhecimento, the Pavilion of Knowledge, Lisbon’s Interactive Science Museum. This immersive and creative science museum encourages knowledge and communicates technological and scientific culture. To accomplish this objective, various hands-on exhibitions and activities have been designed so that visitors can actively explore a variety of themes in a relaxing and fun atmosphere. The museum encourages learning through the medium of play and having fun. Both permanent and temporary exhibits are targeted at children from the age of four and over with a specific area specifically designed for younger children.

This indoor theme park is designed for children up to the age of fifteen and their parents. It’s a child-sized replica of a city where youngsters play adult roles in a highly realistic and safe environment. They can choose from more than 60 different occupations and work within replica establishments of an actual city such as an airport, factories, theatre, shops, a racetrack, a police station, a fire department, a newspaper, a TV studio, a stadium and many more.

The activities are designed to be fun and pedagogical, based on the edutainment (education + entertainment) concept. Its contents are developed according to school programmes and seek to teach the children citizenship values, rules, the value of money and teach them life-skills. At KidZania the official currency is the kidZo. With their kidZos, citizens can buy several goods and services available in the city (such as supermarket goods, hairdresser appointments, car rental, etc) or even do their shopping at the kidZos shop. To earn their kidZos, children will practise the profession they like the most. Their effort will be rewarded with a salary. They manage their own money and are allowed to save their kidZos in a KidZania bank account and draw it out at an ATM machine the next time they visit the city. After all, money doesn’t grow on trees!

Each tour of the city is a new and unrepeatable experience. KidZania is a one-size-fits-all designed space with, among others: parents resting room, cafeteria, gift shop, nursing room, infirmary, photography services and a room for smaller children.

Dolls Hospital (Hospital de Bonecas)

Established in 1830 Lisbon's doll hospital is the worlds oldest and prevails in its original location inside a former human hospital on the Praça da Figueira. From here dolls of all kinds; plastic, porcelain, metal, wood and fabric, will receive will be rejuvenated. Some of the patients here are in a sad state before being lovingly restored. When the dolls are admitted they are tagged with the admission date along with their ailments. They recuperate in hospital beds whilst awaiting treatment. Against the walls cabinets full of little arms, legs, eyes, and wigs awaiting transplantation.

Visiting the dolls hospital is a fun experience for people of all ages. Inside the museum space, there's a fascinating collection of toys that will certainly make you feel nostalgic. The experience is a journey into trends and fashions as they have changed over various generations.

Puppet Museum (Museu da Marioneta)

Housed within a 17th-century convent, the Museu da Marioneta is a magical location to celebrate the art of puppetry, its history and worldwide appeal. It first opened its doors as a museum in November 2001 and comprises puppets of all types of manipulation techniques, as well as masks and props from different worldly cultures. Other than its main focus of championing Portuguese puppetry, there are a great number of exhibits from as far away as Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Burma, Thailand, India, Vietnam, China, Turkey, Sicily and Mali. Since 2008, a collection of African and Asian puppets, belonging to the collector Francisco Capelo, has been on display. There is a constant rotation of temporary exhibitions to keep the art of storytelling fresh. The museum makes a wonderful excursion for the whole family. You can visit for free every Sunday morning.
